And of course….. your ability to with-stand crowded transports, how many persons you’re traveling with, the timing of your trip and what do you want to discover are also important.
The public transport system within Kuala Lumpur is actually quite comfortable and speedy. It may not be as efficient as you want it to be…. but it is reliable enough to get your exploring KL and have fun.

Kuala Lumpur city has made significant improvements to the rail network and highways to reduce traffic congestion. During the morning rush between 6 and 9am, and again between 4 and 7pm, taking the the fast and frequent Light Rail (LRT) and monorail is the most efficient way to beat the traffic jams.
At other times, you will find that taxis and buses plying the city regularly are convenient ways of getting around the city. Many of Kuala Lumpur attractions are within a walking distance with one another, so you can also get around Kuala Lumpur on foot.
However, your susceptibility to the hot weather would be the real challenge in walking around the city.
Get Around Kuala Lumpur by Taxis
Taxis are plentiful and inexpensive in Kuala Lumpur. But, you should be prepared to unleash your bargain power.
Whenever possible, try to get the driver to use the meter, although this may be difficult especially during peak hours as most cabbies consider the official rates too low.
Get Around Kuala Lumpur by Buses
Another alternative to get around Kuala Lumpur is by buses. Buses in Kuala Lumpur are quite comfortable, modern and air-conditioned. The service is comprehensive and it’s a quick and inexpensive way to get around.
Again… the buses may not be as efficient as you want it to be. But, it’s reliable enough to get you around KL.
Get Around Kuala Lumpur by Rails
Kuala Lumpur has a network of mass transit trains that snake through the city and out to the suburbs. I believe, it’ll be worth your time to become familiar with the train routes because traffic jams can sometimes become so unbearable.
Get Around Kuala Lumpur by Walking
Getting around Kuala Lumpur on foot is fun! When the traffic becomes so unbearable, you’ll get where you’re going much faster by strapping on your tennis shoes and start walking. Nothing is too far away.
Get Around Kuala Lumpur by Car
Driving in Kuala Lumpur can be a nightmare for beginners. The roads are in good condition and driving standards are reasonably good, however, the maze of one-way systems in the KL city centre and the constant traffic jams can make you lose your patience.
If you can’t avoid driving by yourself, make sure to bring along a good road map, some bottled water & snacks, handphone and also your international driving licence. You will never know for how long you’ll be stucked in a severe traffic jam. The congestions might last for hours.
